Thanks to all who prayed for my Orientation! It went very well. At first, I was, for some reason, unable to put aside my shyness and take the initiative to introduce myself to some people, thus resulting in temporary misery and feelings of negativity and dread. But, however, (ha, I just said "but" and "however" in the same sentence...I don't think that's Englishly correct)after we had a session called "Get Involved" where we heard from a campus band who played a few worship songs, Beatles songs, and Dave Matthew's Band "Where Are You Going?" and a comedy team (who was hilarious), and after the students got icecream from the icecream sundae bar thing they were having for us, I went back to the dorm I was staying in that night and this girl was sitting at a table in the lobby/porch area of our hall, and I introduced myself and she told me her name was Julie. So I sat down and we talked a bit, and she asked me what I wanted to major in. I told her Communications/Journalism possibly but that I wanted to like, do everything there was to offer in life. Haha. I mentioned psychology and then said I wanted to be a philosopher and she was like "Dude! I love philosophy. I'm a really deep thinker. Sometimes I think too much." And I was just like "Bingo! She's going to be my roommate," because, as some of you know, I'm also a deep thinker and tend to think too much...although, I presume the only difference between our similarities in thinkageness is the fact that I worry like woah over all that I think about and she, by the exhibition of her personality, seems not to. However, looks can be deceiving. Anyway, I then asked her what music she liked, to which she mentioned punk and said "Jimmy Eat World, All-American Rejects, Relient K," and then I was like "Dude! Me too! I like indie rock, emo, punk," and she nodded at the word "emo" and said "me too." So then I said "Do you have a roommate?" and she said no and then I proposed the idea that we be roomies and she agreed! And then these two (well one of them was) sophomore ambassadors came to where we were sitting (it was like midnight and I was getting incredibly tired) and talked to us about a lot of the clubs offered on campus and about some of the sororities and things like that, and then one of the girls let us look through an old yearbook.

Okay...the COOLEST thing. The college doesn't pair you up (at least, not permanently) with a roommate until AFTER orientation, that way if you meet someone you click with, you can request them to the dean. Well, Julie and I went to do that and the guy was like "You guys were already paired together anyway." How COOL is that? My parents were like "woaaah...that's a God thing."

So yes. It ended up going pretty smoothly. And I scored highly on my math placement test! I'm going to be taking calculus, which nervouses me because I haven't even taken PRE-cal yet. Although the class I took my senior year had pre-cal CONCEPTS so...who knows? My schedule is this (not in order):

Intro to the Writing Process (English, basically)
Calculus
Intro to Psychology
Old Testament Survey
Freshmen Seminar
World Civilization

Thing is...I guessed on a LOT of those math questions...hm. *shrug* But my grades in math have always been pretty good. I'm not sure what English department I got placed in though...whether it was the "need extra help" class, regular, or advanced. I doubt it was "need extra help" but I don't think I placed in the advanced. We had to write a darned essay...which is the reason I got recommended to step down from AP English this past year...I have organization problems in my essays and I seem to "assume" too much that the reader knows what I'm talking about. Anyway...I believe that if it was a English/grammar/spelling/sentence structure multiple choice test or something, I'd have done better. Although again, I'm not sure how I placed on the essay.

The campus band was pretty good. Man...seriously...I see bands on stage and I literally LONG to be up there singing and playing a guitar or something. I don't even PLAY a guitar...it's just always been a non-existent passion for me. Being in a band and singing on stage, that is. I could sing and play the piano I guess, but not guitar. At least, not right now. But yeah... if there's a really emotional or just...REALLY GOOD (there's no other way to put it) song that I like...often times I'll pretend to be on stage in my room and sing to it and air-jam. Ha. Go me.

I'm more excited about college now than I was. I guess that's a good thing.

I pick up Jared from the bus terminal TOMORROW! Eek! *shudders in excitement*

oooh... calc is super hard and I took pre-calc in HS... so be prepared to study a lot!!!! I dont know if you need to take it at your school, but it turns out I didnt need to take it for my major and I got a C that hurt my GPA :( So beware...

But thats awesome about your roommate!! I didnt get so lucky.. I had two roommates- the first was a year older, pot dealing hippie-esq chick who didnt study and got straight As. grr. She left the dorm to go to a less populated dorm where she wouldnt get caught dealing drugs. yup. The second one locked me out of my room all time... she was a drama princess... oooh, my daddy just bought me a BMW! that type....

luckily, I met my friend Meg on my freshman year floor and we moved in together later in college. We're still best friends. <3 meg <3 And she's the one who got me into Jimmy Eat world! Well, her emo roommate Freshman year got both of us into it. Erica was into emo before it was this mainstream, which is cool.
