Dude, since when did being yourself become a FAD?

Seriously. Apparently, at least, from what the media is saying, you aren't "being yourself" unless you wear random clothes that don't match and say dumb things like "Make-out Bandit" on them. (haha, which I own...all of 'us' got one and wore them all on the same day...to be stupid...dude I'm not kidding, some old man started hitting on me. It was scary. And I'm not really a "make-out bandit.") Seriously though guys...being yourself has become a fad. And if you wear dull, boring clothes...according to magazines like People and Seventeen, you aren't being yourself. There was this whole section of kids wearing nothing but trash and they called it "their style." No, it wasn't "their style," it was what was POPULAR, because being "out of style" is now popular, thus making it IN style. This is seriously pissing me off. I mean, I admit, I cling to the sidelines of this little fad as well, but it makes me mad that I like to dress somewhat like that. That's probably being hypocritical and sounding like "so if you follow what's hot in style and feel bad 'cause it's in style, that's just as bad." And I truly agree with that. Not everybody concentrates on "thinking up new styles" to express themselves. Now, shopping at thrift stores is the "in" thing to do. Dude, it is my opinion that thrift stores are NOT for those who HAVE money to BUY clothes...it's for those less fortunate. *sigh* I don't know. My opinion could seriously change tomorrow on this.

Just be yourself, dude. Whether you DO follow the "thrift store plan" because you seriously WANT to or you were doing it BEFORE it became a fad. It doesn't matter. The idea is, if you LIKE it, do it. I don't know...it's just getting on my nerves.

This world has become too concerned with looks and appearance and impression anyway.

Psh. Dumb.

I get what you're saying, but I think it's dependent on who the person is.

I go to the thrift store, but not necessarily to get what is in style. I just like old clothes. :)

But I definitely with the people who TRY to look trashy and then say, "it's my style." Blah.
